Principal’ s Message

Dear Guam Adventist Academy Families, Håfa adai! A warm welcome to all of you. My name is Joanne Kim, and I am both the Education Director for the Guam-Micronesia Mission region, and the interim principal. For those of you who know me or have heard my name bantered about, this is now my third stint here at GAA. I told students that I’m like a boomerang—I just keep coming back! I am super excited to welcome each of you and hope to get to know you better as the days pass. Whether you are a returning family or joining us for the first time, we are grateful that you have chosen Guam Adventist Academy for your child’s educational journey.

The beginning of a new school year gives everyone the opportunity for a fresh start, and in many ways, this is a reset year at GAA as we make some changes to get us on track to provide the best education environment for your child. We believe that education is about much more than academics—although academic excellence is certainly important. Our mission is to nurture the whole child—spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially.

We have our wonderful returning teachers and several new additions this year. Our dedicated faculty and staff have invested a lot of time and energy preparing classrooms, lesson-planning, and praying for every student who will walk through our doors. We are committed to providing a safe, caring, and Christ-centered environment where students are encouraged to discover their God-given talents, pursue excellence, and reach their full potential.

We want to thank you for entrusting us with your children; we do not take your trust lightly. Your partnership is essential to the success of our students, and we look forward to working alongside you throughout the year. Please be advised that you can track your child’s educational progress on Jupiter, where teachers will regularly update grades so you have an accurate picture of where your child stands, in real time.

God has special plans for each of us—amazing plans—so let’s work together to make this an unforgettable year for our students! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me: principaljkim@gaasda.org.

I would be more than happy to meet with you. May God richly bless each of our students, families, faculty, and staff as we tackle the new year, together.

Joanne Kim

Interim Principal
